People's Democratic Party (PDP) has denied media reports indicate that the plot to maintain zoning presidential slot in the North East and Southeast.
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a press conference on Sunday, November 3 in Abuja, described the report as mere speculation.
Ologbondiyan said those behind the plan report that political terrorists is to mislead the public and cause discontent in the ranks of the PDP in the hope of using it to continue fabricating their own selfish political ambitions. He urged all PDP members and supporters to ignore those who seek to cause discontent in the ranks of the party.
"The PDP states categorically that our governor is not divided along each row of ambition toward 2023, also has no plans to stop the ambitions of each of our members. For the avoidance of doubt, our party has not discussed the presidential election in 2023, openly or secretly, at any time whatsoever.
"If there is, the PDP is currently working with Nigeria on how to win the election in Kogi and Bayelsa gubernatorial election. We will not be bothered by people who find themselves operating in the highest office of the land but failed in the government, "said Ologbondiyan.
He said that as a party, they also cooperate with respective state governors and legislators across the country, in line with the party's manifesto to improve the welfare and development of Nigeria.
"In addition, it is also important to counsel, without any pretext, that the enemies of our party, who feel threatened by the rising profile of Governor Nyesom Wike, should have a rethink on their vigorous attack on the governor," he said.
