It is the joy of every woman to be called a mother after marriage. for many the joy of pregnancy can be directly traumatic when the fruit of the womb will not come after many years of marriage.
For 44 years Mrs Susan Egenti, his joy knew no bounds when she gave birth to quintuplets after 16 years of marriage. She was delivered of a baby at the Federal Medical Center, Jabi, Abuja.
Mrs Susan Nando Egenti indigenous people, in Anambra East Local Government Area Anambra State was delivered by Caesarean section on November 6, 2019. The quintuplets three sons and two daughters are still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital when our correspondent visited on a Thursday afternoon, although the nurses caring for them said they were in good health
They stated that four of the babies born healthy, measure the weight of an average newborn, except for a thin and weighed 1.9 kg. Speaking to Daily Trust on Saturday in a hospital bed, Mrs Egenti his word within 16 years of marriage, she had taken all the medical options (except IVF) to get the baby but did not succeed until he had quintuplets.
He says he was forced to traditional medicine / herbal to conceive a child but it was also vain, leaving him desperate immortal. He described the birth of their babies as a huge blessing from God as he was the first and only pregnancy since she got married in 2003. "I have been married since 2003 without children, not even for pregnant and had a miscarriage. Every time we attend the dedication of children both in our church or elsewhere, I always come home crying, praying for the day of the Lord will have mercy on me and give me fruit of the womb. "He reported that the birth of a baby nearly took his life when he underwent two operations different, after giving birth, to stop internal bleeding suffered.
He stressed that the last operation left him in a coma for about five days. Mrs Susan who lives with her husband in a room self-contained apartment in the village of Utako said he sells plastic containers while her husband manage a small chemist in Jabi park.
According to her, she had spent all her resources a little on medical expenses and therefore, they are left with nothing to cater for five children, calling on the government and philanthropic Nigeria to help them.
Her husband, Mr. Emmanuel Nnamdi Egenti, who also spoke to reporters in a one bedroom accommodation in village Utako, an urban slum in the heart of Utako District, expressed joy over the birth of quintuplets, said that even during the years they have children, they do not never give up, but rather, put their hope in God, because there was nothing he could do.
However, he said that they have not paid the hospital bill even though babies have been discharged but their mother was very ill and could not even stand on his feet. He prayed for government intervention to allow and then take care of the baby, adding that they will not have any more babies in the future.
"We thank God for what He has done for us. He has proved that he is the only true God, who answered the prayers of those who call Him, "he said, stressing that because they are poor, the prospect of caring for children in terms of food, clothing, education and health so grim that their joy at having a baby almost immediately, turned into despair and despondency.
Dr. Tochukwu Nwoye, a medical doctor who led the team of doctors who performed the surgery, not on seat when our reporter visited the hospital. New mother of five who could not hide the despair about how to foot the bill and then take care of the new bundle of joy is stored in a semi-private ward away from the baby when she was recovering from surgery.
